Phyllis May Jones Homecoming

The Jones family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Central New Testament Church of God, the many friends, family, brethren and love ones who shared words of comfort during our time of bereavement. God bless each of you.

OBITUARY

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Phyllis May Jones, nee Wright ,on January 9,2023. Phyllis was born on May 18, 1942 to Louise May Francis and Ivan Wright in Darling Spring, Jamaica, West Indies. She graduated from Harewood All Age School and went on to pursue a career as a seamstress. In Kingston she met and fell in love with Buzzie "Bobbie" Jones. They were married June 6, 1970. 

Collectively they had eight children : Develin Jones, Lorain Johnson, Donovan Jones, Debbie Jones, Andrew Jones, Desmond Jones, Collie Jones and Junior Jones. In the 1970's and 80's, Phyllis and her immediate family emigrated to the Bronx, New York. There her work in healthcare included private care and a stint at Bialystoker Nursing Home located in Manhattan. Relocating to Florida, Riviera Beach, in 1997, she continued working in the health field, mainly as a private attendant.

Throughout her life Phyllis  found time for her many passions. Dear to her heart : gardening, speculating in real estate, dress making, all aspects of home making, interior decorating to name a few. She was also a student of human nature and easily made friend wherever she went. Her love for her family and friends was immense and unwavering. A vivacious and vibrant soul, she was a master in the kitchen, loved dancing and enjoyed all genres of music. She especially loved herself some Beresford Hammond or as she called him," my Beres".

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, her sister Linneth, brothers Noel and Hepburn and her beloved nephew Delroy. She is survived by sisters Millicent Taylor and Muriel Smith, her brothers Egbert, George, Randolph and Eustace. All of her children, 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends are also left behind by this indomitable woman. Her sunny disposition and zest for life preceded her wherever she went. She is and will always be missed by all who had the pleasure and good fortune to know her. 

Services will be held at Church 1111 Fairfield Drive, Mangonia Park, Florida 33407, on January 28,2023 at 11:00am. Flowers can be forwarded to Shuler's Funeral Home, 5301N. Australian Ave, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.
